Appearance: Tori Hitonomi wears a scarlet cloth around his head that covers the lower part of his face, hiding his face from the cheekbones down to his neck. Underneath this mask are a rather hideous set of ten scars that start at the cheekbones and go down all the way to his jawline, five for each cheek. His skin tone is fairly white, with very little tanning. Other than his scars, Tori's skin is mostly unmarred. His eyes are sky blue, and his hair is short, jet-black, and spiked in every direction. His cheeks are gaunt, and his temples are hollow, making him appear almost phantom-like. His eyebrows are very thin and the same color as his hair.

In addition to the cloth covering the lower half of Tori's face, he also wears a scarlet robe that is normally fastened up to hide Tori's fairly weak body. The scarlet robe also has a large Konohagakure symbol on the back in white, to make the symbol of his allegiance more obvious. The cloth covering Tori's face bears the actual Konohagakure forehead protector over his mouth. Under the scarlet robe, Tori wears a typical black undershirt on his torso and scarlet red leggings that cover his legs entirely. On his feet, Tori wears plain black ninja shoes. At about waist-level at Tori's hips are two vertically placed scrolls, both of them about a foot long and three inches thick, and a third one across his back at waist level, placed horizontally, that is about a foot thick and three feet long. These are meant to hold his puppets.

Attire on a Mission: When on a mission, Tori wears an ANBU mask modeled after the rooster of the Chinese zodiac instead of his usual scarlet cloth in order to hide his face. He wears the usual ANBU uniform on a mission, without the sword that most ANBU carry, instead opting for a set of three scrolls around his waist for his puppets. He has the ANBU tattoo on his right arm.

Personality: Tori Hitonomi is extremely anti-social, especially around women. He is particularly scared of women with long nails, and generally freezes up in complete terror at the first sight of one. He also does not get along well with most men, and he becomes fairly nervous in the presence of medic nin, as he associates pain with their healing palm jutsu.
In battle, Tori generally tries to stay as far away from the opponent as possible and lets his puppets do all the fighting. If cornered, however, Tori loses control of himself and will attack blindly using any and all weapons near him. Despite sticking to this strategy often, he will occasionally deviate from this in order to get the upper hand on his opponent.
On a mission, Tori is by himself, for the most part. He is also cowardly, however, and will often feel the need to quit if he realizes that the mission might be very difficult. The leader of Harikengakure would likely feel very annoyed at this behavior, but Tori would rather deal with an angry kage than a deadly enemy ninja. Tori might even abandon his own teammates and the mission altogether in order to escape safely, making him quite a liability.
Likes: Tori Hitonomi mostly enjoys the "company" of his puppets, and also working on the mechanisms inside them. He also likes to stay inside most of his time, unless he's testing his new puppets. His favorite foods are sukiyaki and yakitori.
Dislikes: Tori Hitonomi greatly dislikes crowds of people and especially dislikes too much sun. He is also prone to sensory overload, and therefore hates bright lights, loud sounds, sharp tastes or smells, or extreme pain. His least favorite foods are hayashi raisu and chawanmushi.
Motivation: When he first became a ninja, Tori Hitonomi was motivated by the idea of gaining power, but since the Chuunin Exams, his motivation for still being a ninja has changed greatly. He is now motivated to rid himself of his guilt and fears in order to live a more normal life.
Fears: Tori Hitonomi is extremely afraid of women with long nails, whether he knows them well or not, and can often be frozen stiff with fear at the sight of one. Because of the rather painful ministrations of the medic nin when he was younger, he is also wary and nervous around medical ninjas.

History: Birth and Childhood Arc: Tori was born from two retired Harikengakure ninja who were mostly unknown to the world outside of Hariken. Within the village, they were normally held in high regard, and they managed to reach the rank of Special Jounin before they had retired. Due to this fair amount of anonymity, the two had managed to retire from service without dying first.
Tori himself was born during a monsoon. While some people have thought this was an omen of some sort, Tori had a normal childhood. He lived with his parents and played ninja with the other children, just like everyone else. Although the other children occasionally poked fun at Tori's older parents, the young boy would laugh with the rest of them.

Academy Arc: After a few years of just playing at being ninja, Tori became curious about what it would be like to be an actual ninja. And so Tori joined the Harikengakure Academy. Although the young boy didn't do well in most of the tests, he did show himself to have a bit of a knack for puppetry, as shown when he managed to take momentary control of one of the training dummies just long enough to make it fall over. Upon this discovery, Tori's academy teacher had pushed the young boy harder to train puppetry and to become better at that particular ninja art. Although it took Tori a little longer than most due to puppetry seeming to be his only known talent, the young boy did manage to graduate, albeit near the bottom of his grade.

Genin Arc: Soon after Tori was given his genin rank, he was put into a squad of two genin and a jounin teacher, like most other genin. Though Tori did not grow close to either the jounin teacher nor the other male genin teammate, he did find that he enjoyed the companion of the kunoichi. The two would often train with each other late into the night, and Tori found her to be a very talented ninja. He was also intrigued to learn that she was almost as naturally curious as he was, though she was more cautious, which Tori often teased her about in a playful manner. As the two genin spent more time together, Tori found himself falling for the kunoichi, completely oblivious to the fact that the girl was already in an arranged marriage with the other male genin. This led to a rift in the team that would never be breached. Regardless, the jounin eventually entered all three genin in his team in the Chuunin Exams, hoping that the difficult tests would force the three to work together.

Instead, the rift only worsened, especially when Tori was forced to fight the other male genin in the final test of the Chuunin Exams. Showing no remorse, Tori defeated and killed his own teammate. It wasn't until after the bout that the kunoichi told him about the arranged marriage and how the girl had loved the now-dead genin. This sudden confession of love the kunoichi held for the other young boy caused Tori to become enraged, and in his grief and anger, Tori attacked the kunoichi without thinking. This was when the genin found out that the kunoichi had secretly been training a forbidden jutsu that could make her long nails that Tori had so often admired become as sharp as knives, and that the wounds made by these nails would become extremely difficult to heal. Although the kunoichi had given Tori a set of scars that would forever mark him a traitor, the genin had managed to kill her with his puppet, using a blade stabbed through her neck.

Despite the fact that he had killed both of his teammates, Tori went unpunished. It was ruled that when Tori killed his kunoichi teammate, it had been in self-defense. With no witnesses able to testify against Tori's lies about the kunoichi attacking first, the genin was guiltless in the eyes of the law. Tori, however, feels a great deal of remorse for killing the girl he loved. In addition, the genin was not only physically scarred, but also mentally scarred by the event, and has since had a great fear of women, especially those with long fingernails, and the Chuunin Exams themselves.

Chuunin Arc: Although the jounin teacher tried to become Tori's friend, the chuunin had become less and less sociable, responding only with low grunts due to his cheeks having been gashed by the kunoichi's nails. He had also buried himself in creating his own puppets, machinations fueled by his nightmares of women with long nails and a genin male whose face was increasingly changing to that of a demon's, forever taunting the chuunin.

After a few years of failed attempts by the jounin teacher to connect with the growing chuunin, the sensei eventually gave up on ever calling the boy his student again, although he did manage to hire a male med-nin to care for the boy's wounds when the chuunin could be pulled away from his horribly monstrous creations.

Jounin Arc: Although it takes a couple of years in his secluded home, Tori eventually returns to the world of ninja with new puppets. Although Tori is clearly very nervous about being with other people during missions, the Chuunin tries his best to overcome his fears and to face the opponents he meets, although he still avoids women and most men because of his past. The Shiokage at the time sees this and marks the progress of the emotional wreck that was still filled with guilt.

During a mission to retrieve an important scroll with valuable information regarding another village's new kinjutsu techniques, one of the Chuunin's new teammates falls victim to an enemy kunoichi. Despite Tori's extreme dread about facing a female fighter, the puppetry ninja is the only person who can stop and help the teammate, as the other member of the team already had the scroll, and time was now extremely important because the enemy likely knew what information was now missing. Tori is found almost immediately by the enemy kunoichi, as she had apparently fought against a puppeteer before.

As she stood over him, ready to deliver the final deadly blow against the puppeteer, Tori Hitonomi finally recognizes the enemy kunoichi as the teammate he had once loved and thought that he had killed. She even had a pair of scars on the sides of her neck where the blade that should have killed her had gone through. Luckily, the time the kunoichi had spent taunting Tori with his failed attempt at killing her had allowed Tori's teammate to free himself just in time to run a blade through her neck in the same spot that Tori had once tried to kill her with. Instead of leaving it there, however, the teammate twists and turns the blade until the kunoichi's head comes off, making sure that she would never come back again.

Upon returning to Hariken, Tori and his teammates were chosen to become Jounin for their great help in recovering the important scroll. The Shiokage at the time also asked to see Tori, much to the puppeteer's surprise.

ANBU Arc: Upon seeing the old Shiokage, Tori understood that the man was dying of old age. The man's voice was more hoarse than his own, and he had to stop and cough after only a few words. The shiokage had asked Tori if he had managed to face his fears, and the Jounin replied that he had looked his own fear in the eyes and would have died if not for his teammate.

The dying Shiokage was visibly disappointed in this, but the old dying man pressed some kind of paper into the puppeteer's hand and told him that this paper would be his new destiny. Tori didn't open the scrap of paper until he had already returned home. On the scrap of paper was the symbol of the ANBU, their special tattoo, with the word "Rooster" above, and the word "ANBU" below.

Many years since then, a new Shiokage has taken the old one's place, but Tori has still served under Dominic Edrick loyally, although he still refuses to attack enemy kunoichi, especially those with long nails. Since joining the ANBU, Tori Hitonomi has not seen his other teammates at all, though he has heard that they have been doing well on their missions.

RP Sample: Sokko Sankuro continues staring at the older woman for a long moment when she says something about how they would need a medic nin, and he lets the other two talk, as he had nothing to add to that particular topic. His gaze momentarily shift to Ka when he laughs and becomes more serious with his next reply concerning whose lives are more important, apparently believing incorrectly that the villagers' lives are more important, and that they should risk their own lives foolishly to protect them. "Honor has no place in the world of a ninja. If the village falls and you can escape safely, go ahead and kill as many of them as you can, but only if they threaten you. Otherwise, they are unimportant. If the weak die, it is their own fault for being weak. Those who survive will be made stronger, and the world is a better place."

He stares at the woman again, his attention directed straight at her, sure now that she is a Sankuro because the waitress called her such. "That is why we do not require the services of a medic nin. If one of us is hurt in training, it is because he is weak. If he survives and gets better, our team becomes better. If he dies from injuries sustained in training, our team is better off." He scoffs a bit and turns his back towards the other two ninja on his newly formed team dismissively.
